What is breast augmentation surgery?
Breast augmentation is the process of enlarging both breasts symmetrically, performed on asymmetrical, underdeveloped breasts or those that have lost their fullness after breastfeeding.
Your breasts may not be in the size you desire after the development period. One of your breasts may be less developed than the other. You may have been happy with your breasts in the past, but now you may think they look different. If you have lost a lot of weight, have breastfed a child, or as a result of aging, your breasts may have lost their fullness and their shape may have changed. In all these cases, breast augmentation surgeries with breast prostheses will correct the shape and size of your breasts.
How should a beautiful breast be?
Just as an outfit does not look the same on everyone, a prosthesis will look different on everyone. We will decide together after a detailed examination that we will choose the prosthesis that will suit you.
In order to have a natural breast after the surgery, the choice of technique and prosthesis to be used should be made according to your breast structure, rib cage, shoulder width, nipple placement and soft tissue thickness. Your skin structure, the condition of your existing breast tissue, the shape of the nipple, chest muscle and strength, and your habits related to life and sports are also important in determining the appropriate technique for you.
Am I a good candidate for breast augmentation surgery?
If you have one of the following complaints, you may be a good candidate for aesthetic breast augmentation surgery;
If you complain that your breasts are small,
If clothes that fit well on your hips are too small for your chest area,
If you have trouble wearing bikinis and sports clothes,
If your breasts have lost their fullness and become smaller after giving birth,
Losing weight has changed the shape and size of your breasts.
If one of your breasts is noticeably smaller than the other.
What Type of Prosthesis Should Be Used?
Prostheses vary according to their content, shape and surface properties. Prostheses filled with serum or filled with silicone gel are widely used. Their geometric shapes can be round or anatomical (drop). The surfaces of breast prostheses can be smooth or rough. Each feature has advantages and disadvantages. When choosing the most suitable prosthesis for you, your plastic surgeon will consider your anatomical structure and current breast shape, and will also consider your wishes.
Operation
The surgery is performed in hospital conditions and under general anesthesia. The prosthesis is placed behind the breast tissue/chest muscle through an incision made around the nipple or under the breast. After the surgery, a small dressing is made and a bra is put on. It is possible to return home the same day. You can return to work in two or three days, and after 1 month you can participate in all sports activities.
Postoperative
Aspirin-containing drugs and green tea should not be taken before and during the following 3 weeks due to their bleeding-increasing effect. Patients with prosthesis placed under the chest muscle are not suitable to do heavy sports in the first month after the surgery.
What are the risks after surgery?
The choice of your plastic surgeon is very important. Bleeding, infection, delay in wound healing or asymmetry are very rare after breast augmentation surgeries performed by an experienced plastic surgeon and in modern equipped hospitals.
Our body reacts to all foreign substances that enter our body and tries to limit and separate it from the body. Since the prosthesis placed is also a foreign substance, the body creates a sheath (capsule) around it. Although the formation of the capsule is a completely natural process, in some patients, the reaction to the prosthesis may be more and this capsule formation may be more severe. In such cases, hardening of the chest and thickening of the capsule are called contraction of the capsule. In this case, it may be possible to loosen the capsule or replace or remove the prosthesis.
